NaNoWriMo: The Journey Begins!

Updated: Nov 14, 2018

It's NaNoWriMo! The time for writers to indulge themselves in frantic writing binges, mercilessly plugging on and on without fears or worries concerning perfection, refinement, integrality!

I love binge-writing. There's a certain point where, in some cases, you simply have to stop before everything gets spoiled. Not so with NaNoWriMo! I've made it my personal goal to write as much as I can, and learn, and grow, and accomplish!

It's been seven days. Total word count: 2,000.

Yeah, so, I was slightly freaking out when that was all I had to show. The Great and Powerful NaNoWriMo chart tells me that at this rate, I will reach my writing goal on...October 14th of 2019!?

Noooooooo!

My thoughts exactly.

It's not that I don't like writing, I LOVE writing! I ever created an entire Blog dedicated to my love affair with good words.

(Sarcasm) Oh, really?

Yeah, you should read it sometime, Johnny.

It's not the writing bit itself that's my hurdle. Sometimes it is, but thankfully not right now.

It's carving out the time to do it.

Do I need to hire somebody to lecture you about that?

Why? That's what I hired you for!

You never hired me.

Sure I did! Didn't I?

Hired people get paid.

Touché. Anyway. I haven't been making any Writing Buddies nor earning any Writing Badges. I tried all that jazz when I was using Figment, and it really seemed to distract from my writing.

I guess it's because I don't write to earn badges. I write to write something real into the world.

And now, I need to get a hold of this whole NaNoWriMo deal-io, and get a good jump-start on this book that I am in love with, but-don't-have-the-time-to-write. I will learn how to have time to write. I will! Eventually, a day won't go by without at least 500 words. Maybe more. Just watch me. That's what NaNoWriMo will teach me.

So, according to The Great and Powerful NaNo, I need to write 2,042 words a day in order to complete my goal. Wow.

Wow.

Wow. I think I could do that.

I got about ten hours of sleep last night. I'm pretty sure I could do just about anything right about now. Sleep is a powerful weapon, writers, never forget it.

Happy Writing!

NaNoWriMo continues! I must be growing in some way, because I now have an average of 2,000 words a day! Minimum sleep, but who cares??
